In the description of a blizzard it says to make a Vigor roll at -2 every hour. Is that -2 in addition to the normal temperature penalties?

Example: Winter in Hearthlands, you have Vigor(-1) every four hours without protection. If a blizzard came along and they still had no protection would it be Vigor(-3) every hour or only -2?

I always ruled them as seperate, because the temperature is time variable, especially on lower temperatures.

So i let them make a vigor roll every hours or minutes due to the temperature, and additionally every hour for the effects of the storm.

For me the -2 is due to stemming against the battering winds, not due to the temperature.

It’s as Enno says — ambient temperature and the storm are separate things, so the blizzard’s -2 is a flat modifier rather than an additional one.

So warm clothes and special abilities/edges would give no bonus against a blizzard?

For the “cold” part, yes. Which is the usual vigor roll against temperature…

Against the forces of the wind, no. Unless you use certain supportive or protective magic, that negates the effect of a storm.

Which is why you need to find (or create) shelter to be safe.
